We make barriers to disability inclusion easier to see, understand and change.
Third Legacy is a learning lab for disability inclusion.
Two places where inclusion often breaks down.
Can people understand it, recognize it and act on it?
Are there real places to contribute, create and return to?
Third Legacy works in the space between inclusion as an idea and inclusion as an experience.
A message can be available and still be hard to understand. A program can welcome someone once without giving them somewhere to return.
Many barriers stay invisible until they become personal.
That makes them easy to miss, even for organizations that genuinely want to do better.
How we turn what we notice into action.
Find and study the barriers that are easy to miss.
Turn what we learn into tools people can use.
Create more access, participation and influence.
We learn by doing real work.
Third Legacy brings research, lived experience and real-world experimentation together. We test ideas in public, learn what works and turn that learning into something others can use.
What changes when accessibility shapes communication from the beginning?
ACI studies communication barriers across readability, representation and reach.
What happens when belonging has somewhere to continue?
TOBL Studio builds year-round creative community around what Think Out, Be Light helped us see.
Can people understand it, recognize it and act on it?
Are there real places to contribute, create and return to?
We didn’t always know to look for these barriers either.
Raising their daughter Zoe, who has Down syndrome, changed what Feleceia and Frankie Wilson noticed. Instructions, classrooms, stages, websites and public spaces were quietly deciding who could participate.
Their work across strategy, communications and community gave them the tools to investigate those questions rather than just live with them. Third Legacy is the nonprofit home for that public-benefit research, education and community work.
Zoe Communications is the founders’ separate consultancy. Third Legacy holds the nonprofit work.
Help us keep learning and building what works.
Support gives Third Legacy room to research hidden barriers, test ideas in the real world, keep programs accessible and turn what we learn into tools more people can use.
Research + experimentation
Accessible programs + community
Tools + education
